More Business Signs

Here's a few more of the many signs I've done over the years living in Homer, Alaska

Boy was I not ready for this reaction.  Back in the early 70"s I was just in from the big city, had just a pack and some brushes and a head full of art. I really didn't get that the homesteaders and church people weren't ready for my nudes! Hey, they were'nt ready for me either.

Later the  bar changed hands and the new owner  hired me to do the  new sign too.  A little more  stylish and definitely  tamer.  Never heard  much about this one  but it did the job  I suppose.

The guy who hitch hiked up here with me, my longest term friend Mike Kennedy, eventually started a recycle business and I guess he fixed some cars too. Anyway this one was for Mike Kennedy and his famous Last Chance Recyling and Repair

A little further down Pioneer Ave  you can see another very old building. The Marie Walli building Main Street Merc. It was Homer's first store. It was beautifully restored by Kate Mitchell who asked me to do a sign that would reflect the character and history of the building.

Over by  Bishops Beach is Lorraine Haas  Dance  Studio . A  fun place that has  been part of many dance careers around  Homer.  Kurt Rutzabeck  has closed up shop and moved but is sign is still around .

Tonnies  massages  just cant be beat for taking you far away and leading you into a deep state of bliss. I tried to show how it feels with this sign.

I never hit a golf ball  in my life  but I think  I got the sign right for this par 3 course way out Homer's East End Road. The idea for Lynx was really "links" I suppose.

Just down the street from the Main Street Merc you can find a friendly face and a comfortable place to stay  at the old Pioneer Inn.  In the summer the planter box below has a lot of nice flowers that really highlight the sign . As you can see , flowers are big with this business.

I found this old slide just the other day and added it to this page. This is acutally the first ornate "art" sign I ever did. Like so many, the business is long gone. It's something you have to get used to in the sign business.
