Here are the steps for getting a commission started
1. Call or e mail me and set up a no cost meeting to discuss the possibility of having this done, there is no obligation at this point.
2. If you decide, during this meeting or later, to go ahead I will give you a firm quote for the size and style of the commission you want. A down payment of 50% will be needed at that point.
3. Once the decision is made to go ahead I will want you to schedule a photo shoot either at my studio or some location useful as a background. price of this shoot is included in final price. Also I will ask you to bring in some of your favorite photos for reference. I don't like to make exact copies of your photos as a general rule but am very interested in which shots of yourself are your favs..
4. I will begin the painting and give you a rough estimate of when it will be done, this varies depending on how the process is working. I strive to get a good likeness and create a strong design and sometimes this takes time. I will ask the subject to come in for one or two short sessions so I can compare for likeness and skin tones, etc.
5. I will have you come in for one or two approval sessions which means that I want your honest opinion of how you like the work and any suggestions you may have to improve it. I will try to respond to your ideas as one of the goals is to make sure you enjoy your commissioned portrait and that it reflects the likeness and character of the subject. I am willing to work at achieving this but , no doubt there will be times when I cannot do this to your satisfaction. In this case you do not have to accept the work but I will require half the down payment for my honest efforts.
6. Finally I will let you know the work is done and you can pick it up. In the unlikely event that you do not like/want the painting I will refund half of your down payment.
